About
I am a fully qualified, accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with a master’s in psychology, and an EMDR practitioner working towards EMDR accreditation.
My therapeutic approach is best described as Person-Centred, relational and trauma focused. I include body-based somatic skills to help manage stress responses, with an aim to increase your somatic awareness so you are better able to regain and maintain a state of calm and regulation.

Counselling & Psychotherapy
Counselling and Psychotherapy are generic, interchangeable terms (in the UK) for the therapeutic service of talking confidentially on a consistent basis, exploring personal obstacles with a trained and qualified therapist. Some people come to therapy to look at a particular problem or obstacle to their wellbeing, others come with a general sense of unhappiness, depression or anxiety.

EMDR THERAPY
EMDR stands for eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing. It is an integrative psychotherapy that helps people recover from problems that are driven by difficult past events and traumatic experiences, and is used to treat troubling symptoms, such as anxiety, guilt, anger, depression, panic, sleep disturbance, and flashbacks. These symptoms often persist because traumatic memories can become "stuck" causing them to resurface, especially during stressful times.

Somatic Skills
Within the therapy process I integrate some somatic skills for learning how to self-regulate and self-soothe, fostering a sense of calm and balance in your daily life. This approach emphasizes the connection between the mind and body, focusing on how we experience and release physical sensations, tensions, and emotions that we may be holding onto.
